Zygor Guides Review- A BETTER guide available

Hi there, if you are reading this you must be thinking about buying Zygor guides.

I’m glad you found my article before you made your purchase! Because what used to be the best leveling guide in World of Warcraft is NOT Zygor Guides anymore!

If you read my original Zygor guides review, you’ll agree that Zygor guides is pretty good. In fact, even though I’m saying Zygor guides is not the best option right now, that doesn’t mean the guide itself is a bad guide. To summarize, Zygor guides has some nice features like the “smart injection system” and a newly built sleek interface that can expand and collapse with a simple click of a button. It also does automatic quest tracking depending on the existing character’s level, class, or other use of features like heirloom items and recruit-a-friend promotions that increases your leveling experience.

Zygor guides vs. Dugis guide

If you heard of Zygor guides, you probably heard of Dugis guide. If not you can visit the Dugis guide official website here.
Both Zygor guides and Dugis guide have been considered the best guides for leveling in World of Warcraft for a couple years now. There were some difference in the way the interface looked and people who preferred the simple and more compact interface chose Dugis guide while people who liked a more detail oriented interface chose Zygor guides. But overtime these two guides made fixes and both guides support both the simple and bulky interfaces for players to choose from.

So why do I think Zygor guides is all of a sudden not the best choice?

Again, it’s not that Zygor guides is bad but rather because the recently released Dugis guide has some features that are unbelievable.

Feature #1 that Zygor guides doesn’t have: 3D Model Viewer

The 3D model viewer that was introduced with Dugis guide 5 is a feature that Zygor guides have not put in place and I have to say it’s awesome. Have you ever tried to do a quest where you had to loot an item or kill a mob but can’t seem to find it? Or even have a hard time finding the NPC that the quest tells you to go find? From my personal experience, when I used Zygor guides, the one thing that I bugged me was trying to do those quests that made me loot this tiny bottle looking thing lying randomly on the floor that just looked like it was part of the environment. Zygor guides told me where to go and what to do but I would be like “where the #@$@ is this thing I can’t see it” for 10 minutes before realizing that the spec of dust on the ocean ground floor is what I had to loot.

If you ever had experiences like that using Zygors guide or any other guides you’ll appreciate what Dugis guide has put in place. Look at the picture below. Basically it tells you whatever your looking for in a 3D model! You can simply click on the small yellow button to expand and collapse the 3D viewer from opening and closing.  This feature definitely makes Dugis guide stand out and above Zygor guides considering that all other features are pretty much similar. Amazed yet? But there’s more!

Feature #2 that Zygor guides doesn’t have: The ‘Target Button’

This ‘target button’ feature combined with the 3D model viewer is absolutely a killer. I’ve sent Zygor guides an email once suggesting a feature similar to this but I guess Dugis guide beat Zygor guides to it. Here’s what the target button function looks like in action.

So as you can see in the video, Dugis guide, unlike Zygor guides, lets you target all the NPCs or creatures that are listed in the model viewer to complete your quests. This function is hard to appreciate at first because so much more can be done with it. There are tutorials that show you how to customize this ‘target’ button so that in addition to targeting, you can make your character cast a spell or attack right away. So essentially you can bind it in your regular action bar and help you automatically detect and hack away at the mob right away.

By now, you probably want to buy Dugis guide more than Zygor guides (and I would too). But like anything in life, there are draw backs that are important to realize.

Things Zygor guides are still better at than Dugis guide:

Because Dugis guide just has more features available than Zygor guides, it can be more difficult to use at first. Basically with more functionality, comes complexity. Though I personally prefer Dugis guide over Zygor guides because I’m used to using these guides and setting them up quickly to do exactly what I want, some people find it difficult and just don’t want to have settings to choose from. You might say “what? why would anyone do that?” but its true and some players want everything to be all set ready to “go” right away and not bother with customizing the add-on to do more and such. That’s why for these people I would actually recommend Zygor guides.

One other small thing that Zygor guides is better at than Dugis guide is memory usage for the add-on. This probably isn’t that big of a deal for most players but the new version of Zygor guides reduced their memory usage from 40MB to about 6MB making it a lot less intensive for computers to run if you are using minimal spec computers to play the game.

Overall thoughts on Zygor guides and Dugis guide

  • I would probably go with Zygor guides if you want a simpler guide ready to go as soon as you download with precustomization

  • I would go with Dugis guide instead of Zygor guides if you’re looking for something that is highly customizable with really innovative feature

Whether you choose Zygor Guides or Dugis guide, I hope my review of these two guides helped you make the decision that suits your needs. They both come with a full money back guarantee so my advice would be to actually try both and pick one for yourself!

Zygor Guides Review -
Every Feature Explained

Not long ago some major changes came about in the World of Warcraft as Deathwing finally made its appearance. The old world of azeroth that many players once knew was radically changed and as a result so did the leveling paths.

As scary as this could be to many new players as well as old players, this new change actually gave world of warcraft a chance to fix many of the low level quests that used to slow down the 1 through 60 leveling speed.

For many years, Zygor guides have boasted it’s ease of use and quick leveling speed. For those who don’t know how Zygor guides work, basically the guide shows you which quests to complete in order to maximize the leveling efficiency. Zygor guides also come with a built in waypoint arrow so that you don’t have to concern yourself about where to go to complete each quests

In essence it’s the combination between the two pictures below

Zygor Guides: Smart Injection System

This new feature in Zygor guides allows players to use the regular questing in conjunction with:

  • Pre-leveled characters: Zygor guides would automatically detect and sync with the existing level of the character
  • Heirloom items: Zygor guides would be able to track the additional experience gained by using these items and update its quest progression accordingly
  • Recruit-A-Friend: Similar to heirloom items, Zygor guides would be able to track the bonus experience gained from using this promotion as well
  • Dungeons and PVP: Zygor guides syncs well with levels that players gain by dungeons as well as through battleground pvp as introduced recently by blizzard

The new smart injection system interface in Zygor guides makes this all very user friendly.

If you look through the Zygor guides interface more closely, you’ll find that there are three tabs: Guides, Recent, and Suggest. The best feature out of these three in my opinion is the Suggest button. The suggest tab will automatically detect your level and all the factors that can contribute to your experience level as mentioned above.

As you can see, with Zygor guides, you will be amazing at leveling in world of warcraft. In fact, you may be so amazing that you might start leveling faster than how fast the guide thinks you should. When this happens, Zygor guides automatically detects this as well and gives you the option to skip to the next section of the leveling guide to maximize your leveling time and efficiency. So what if you just picked up 15 quests and after completing only 2, the guide tells you that you can move to a different zone? Do I have to manually abandon each one? To be honest, it’s not that big of a deal to just abandon them…but with Zygor guides, you can simply click on the “quest clean up” button and Zygor guides will even do that for you.

Still not convinced?

Let’s then go over the new improved interface in Zygor guides

In the early leveling guide days, there were two major types of guides out there:

  • Guides that use a tool bar type of approach with a super small interface that only show one quest goal at a time
  • Guides like Zygor guides that show multiple quests with more detail

The trade off was that if you wanted more detail, you needed to compromise it for a big bulky interface. Players had to choose between from one or the other and couldn’t have the best of both worlds. At least until the new Zygor guides came out.

And that’s not all. The new and improved Zygor guides have been changed to are more sleek and intuitive easy to use design.

Here are the 2 mode in Zygor guides:

  • Traditional primary full mode- this mode in Zygor guides shows guide borders with a full size interface showing all the quest steps and their information. This mode is preferred and recommended for players who want a large interface or for those who have large displays to play world of warcraft
  • Secondary “mini-mode”: with just a simple click of a button, Zygor guides automatically transforms from the bulky full mode to mini-mode which is great for players who prefer to use a guide that uses the screen space as little as possible so that it frees up more space for other things like the action bar and maybe even the scenery?

You might as with the mini-mode, is there a way to quickly check for quest specific detailed information without switching back to the primary mode?

And fortunately the answer is yes. All you need to do is hover the mouse button over the specific quest you want to know more about and the guide will automatically show a drop down menu with the detailed information about the quest.  Pretty neat huh?

Zygor guides: multiple quest tracking

Now the next feature in zygor guides is probably the one that I like the most.

Did you ever have a time when you finished one quest and travel diligently on your mount half way across the map to hand it in just to realize that you happen to have 2 or 3 other quests that you could’ve done in the exact same place you just came from?

This happens frequently as most of us get tired reading each quest as we level to the maximum level cap.

Zygor guides make this easy by having the ability to track multiple objectives that can be completed in an area. This way there is no way that you can miss any quests that need to be done again!

Zygor guides: Overview

Overall, Zygor guides is a very good guide for it’s price. It saves so much time questing and leveling for all your characters regardless of your skill level in world of warcraft. All the features discussed are constantly updated and work perfectly with the updated patches. I would recommend Zygor guides for all world of warcraft players who are looking to level any class to level 85 as fast as they can to enjoy end game content

That’s it! I hope this Zygor guides review was helpful. Happy leveling y’all.
