Zygor Guides Review- A BETTER guide available
Hi there, if you are reading this you must be thinking about buying Zygor guides.
I’m glad you found my article before you made your purchase! Because what used to be the best leveling guide in World of Warcraft is NOT Zygor Guides anymore!
If you read my original Zygor guides review, you’ll agree that Zygor guides is pretty good. In fact, even though I’m saying Zygor guides is not the best option right now, that doesn’t mean the guide itself is a bad guide. To summarize, Zygor guides has some nice features like the “smart injection system” and a newly built sleek interface that can expand and collapse with a simple click of a button. It also does automatic quest tracking depending on the existing character’s level, class, or other use of features like heirloom items and recruit-a-friend promotions that increases your leveling experience.
Zygor guides vs. Dugis guide
If you heard of Zygor guides, you probably heard of Dugis guide. If not you can visit the Dugis guide official website here.
Both Zygor guides and Dugis guide have been considered the best guides for leveling in World of Warcraft for a couple years now. There were some difference in the way the interface looked and people who preferred the simple and more compact interface chose Dugis guide while people who liked a more detail oriented interface chose Zygor guides. But overtime these two guides made fixes and both guides support both the simple and bulky interfaces for players to choose from.
So why do I think Zygor guides is all of a sudden not the best choice?
Again, it’s not that Zygor guides is bad but rather because the recently released Dugis guide has some features that are unbelievable.
Feature #1 that Zygor guides doesn’t have: 3D Model Viewer
The 3D model viewer that was introduced with Dugis guide 5 is a feature that Zygor guides have not put in place and I have to say it’s awesome. Have you ever tried to do a quest where you had to loot an item or kill a mob but can’t seem to find it? Or even have a hard time finding the NPC that the quest tells you to go find? From my personal experience, when I used Zygor guides, the one thing that I bugged me was trying to do those quests that made me loot this tiny bottle looking thing lying randomly on the floor that just looked like it was part of the environment. Zygor guides told me where to go and what to do but I would be like “where the #@$@ is this thing I can’t see it” for 10 minutes before realizing that the spec of dust on the ocean ground floor is what I had to loot.
If you ever had experiences like that using Zygors guide or any other guides you’ll appreciate what Dugis guide has put in place. Look at the picture below. Basically it tells you whatever your looking for in a 3D model! You can simply click on the small yellow button to expand and collapse the 3D viewer from opening and closing. This feature definitely makes Dugis guide stand out and above Zygor guides considering that all other features are pretty much similar. Amazed yet? But there’s more!
Feature #2 that Zygor guides doesn’t have: The ‘Target Button’
This ‘target button’ feature combined with the 3D model viewer is absolutely a killer. I’ve sent Zygor guides an email once suggesting a feature similar to this but I guess Dugis guide beat Zygor guides to it. Here’s what the target button function looks like in action.
So as you can see in the video, Dugis guide, unlike Zygor guides, lets you target all the NPCs or creatures that are listed in the model viewer to complete your quests. This function is hard to appreciate at first because so much more can be done with it. There are tutorials that show you how to customize this ‘target’ button so that in addition to targeting, you can make your character cast a spell or attack right away. So essentially you can bind it in your regular action bar and help you automatically detect and hack away at the mob right away.
By now, you probably want to buy Dugis guide more than Zygor guides (and I would too). But like anything in life, there are draw backs that are important to realize.
Things Zygor guides are still better at than Dugis guide:
Because Dugis guide just has more features available than Zygor guides, it can be more difficult to use at first. Basically with more functionality, comes complexity. Though I personally prefer Dugis guide over Zygor guides because I’m used to using these guides and setting them up quickly to do exactly what I want, some people find it difficult and just don’t want to have settings to choose from. You might say “what? why would anyone do that?” but its true and some players want everything to be all set ready to “go” right away and not bother with customizing the add-on to do more and such. That’s why for these people I would actually recommend Zygor guides.
One other small thing that Zygor guides is better at than Dugis guide is memory usage for the add-on. This probably isn’t that big of a deal for most players but the new version of Zygor guides reduced their memory usage from 40MB to about 6MB making it a lot less intensive for computers to run if you are using minimal spec computers to play the game.
Overall thoughts on Zygor guides and Dugis guide
- I would probably go with Zygor guides if you want a simpler guide ready to go as soon as you download with precustomization
- Go Here To Download Zygor Guides From The Official Site
- I would go with Dugis guide instead of Zygor guides if you’re looking for something that is highly customizable with really innovative feature
